About Tripolia Bazaar

Tripolia Bazaar is one of the oldest and most characterful markets of the walled city, stretching along the street opposite the imposing three-arched Tripolia Gate of the City Palace. It is a traditional market that has served the people of Jaipur for generations.

What to shop for

Tripolia Bazaar is especially famous for its lac (lakh) bangles — the colourful, ornamented bangles that are a signature Jaipur craft — along with brassware, ironware, utensils and traditional hardware. Branching off it is the celebrated Maniharon ka Rasta, a narrow lane devoted almost entirely to bangle-makers, where you can watch the craft being practised. Carpets, textiles and ironmongery round out the offering.

With the great Tripolia Gate as its backdrop, the bazaar offers a glimpse of workaday old-city commerce, less tourist-focused and all the more authentic for it.

Visiting tips

Visit during the day when the workshops and shops are active. Bargaining is customary. The nearby Iswari Minar Swarga Sal (Isarlat) tower and the City Palace are within easy walking distance.
